John 2:13-16
Mark 11:15-17
Pastor Locke felt that this was one of the most important sermons he has preached in 19 years. It is about the significance of prayer. Jesus cleansed the temple of Jerusalem twice to remove grown men because of the wrong that they were doing. Even though they belonged there, the men at the church were selling sacrificial animals to make money, rather than worshipping God. Jesus said, “Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? But ye have made it a den of thieves” Mark 11:17.
A church is the house of God. Today we are the temple of the living God, and the Holy Ghost needs to do a cleansing on us. Unfortunately, many churches in America rely on choices of entertainment to increase their number of church members, rather than concentrating on the word of God to increase the number of those who are saved. The greatest thing is not that you serve God; it is how you serve God. Communicating with Him through prayer is definitely at the top of the list.
The early church prioritized praying first for each and every thing. Many churches now minimize praying and, in some situations, completely disregard prayer. We think it is more effective if we struggle to take care of things ourselves than it is if we ask God to do so. We are wrong. We accomplish nothing by worrying and wishing things would go our way. God, however, will always make a way, work it out, and supply all of our needs. God is great! “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Philippians 4:6
The third temple will be coming to Jerusalem one day. No matter what people think, it will come. Jesus will be there, and it will be the house of prayer.
